In November, the Funk Heritage Center recognizes Native American Heritage Month.
Friday, November 3, 2023, we will have a special guest speaker: Troy Wayne Poteete, a former Cherokee Nation Supreme Court Justice and current national executive director for the Trail of Tears Association. Entrance fee into the museum on November 3rd will be our regular admission price.
The following day, Saturday, November 4, 2023, we will offer free admission, allowing you to enjoy more talks, including a presentation by two of our members who spent 16 days following the Trail of Tears. We will also hear from a man of Cherokee ancestry, who will go into depth in his discussion of native plants and their traditional uses. Additionally, we will have demonstrations in both the courtyard and our Appalachian Settlement, along with games, self tours of the museum, and more! The November 4th event is free for everyone!
